Baby Features!

So, I learned an important lesson this week. Sudafed and sewing do not mix. Even more so, Sudafed and sewing something you've never attempted before is an even worse mix.

I had an idea. A brilliant idea. A brilliant Craft Fail. I saw the adorable taggy sunshine, which I featured on an earlier post this week, and thought- I can do that! Well, to be specific, I was going to change it up. I had bright green minky, so I decided I was going to make a turtle. With taggies, and zebra print minky legs & a tail. With crinkle material, and bells.

The end product? A misshapen blob unrecognizable as a turtle. I lopped the head off, and continued- it just kept getting worse. And worse. No way I'm giving that "turtle" to anyone as a gift. It was failure on an epic level.

I blame the Sudafed. I hate to take responsibility for such an epic crafting fail.

I've taken a deep breath, and moved on, to a small 4x4 crinkle square with taggies. I haven't sewed it yet, it's all pinned, though. Hopefully, it'll turn out much better than the Turtle.

In the mean time, here are some more great baby craft features from this week's Baby Week Link Party!

Don't forget to post your own Baby projects- past or present! The party ends on Saturday!

Talented Tuesday!

Welcome to Talented Tuesday with My Frugal Family! This week, I'm hosting a week long Baby Week, so I'll be featuring crafts posted to my Baby Week post!

For Baby Week, please feel free to post any crafts made for babies- clothing, toys, blankets, nursery decorations, and more! You can post them both here on Talented Tuesday, as well as on Baby Week!

Dig deep into your older posts- I want to see all of your cool baby crafts!

On to the features...

Easy Peasy Stuffed Animals from Mommas Kinda Crafty- these are super easy, and made from scraps!

A Fun Car Seat Blanket Cover by Simply Designing. These are ingenious! I've seen them on several sites now. It's a great way to keep the sun out of the face of your little lovey, and keep wind and other nasty elements off him or her!

Easy, Functional Burp Rags by Rebecca and Maggie at Homemade Mamas. I love how easy these are to make, and how nice and thick they would be, as they make use of the old traditional "burp rag"- the cloth diaper!

Ruffled, Appliqued Onsie by Brandi at Rosie's. Super adorable, especially with summer coming up. These would make cute little summer outfits for those hot days when too many clothes makes for a fussy baby!

Interested in sponsoring next week's Talented Tuesday post with your own crafts, shop items, or a tutorial? Check out the details here!

Baby Week at My Frugal Family- Link Party

This week, I'm making things for my cousin's baby shower. To help give me ideas, I'm hosting a Baby Week link party!

If you have made any baby related crafts, please link them up- past or present! I want to see all the fun ideas you have! Maybe it will help give me some cool ideas.

In the mean time, here are a few features from the links already posted.

Cheryl at Sew Can Do offers this adorable alternative to the standard Taggy Blanket. Isn't this sun just the cutest? You could probably add crinkle material to the middle, too!

Kami at the Mullins Family made these two cute crafts- the Taggy Blanket, and a cute ceiling hanging for her friends nursery. I just love the color combos she used!

The link party will be open until Saturday- please, fill it with your past & present baby related crafts to inspire not just me, but everyone else out there who is either expecting, has a baby, or has a gift to make!

In the mean time, I woke up sick (joy!), so this is probably my post for the day. I still have crafts to finish by Saturday for the shower, plus physical therapy this week (and boy, am I looking forward to traction today!), so it'll be a busy week!

Expect lots of fun baby related features this week!!

Baby Craft Week!

This upcoming weekend, I have a baby shower for a cousin who is being blessed with her first child. The baby's sex is a surprise, which limits the range of crafts I can make. I've also procrastinated, thus limiting further just what all I can do in time for the shower.

If you've made baby crafts- clothing, toys, nursery decorations, blankets, burp rags, pacifier clips, or anything else I haven't imagined, please link your craft to this post!

I have 2 yards of minky fabric- 1 yard each in 2 different colors/patterns. Half yard each is being made into a blanket, leaving me another full yard of slinky soft minky fabric.

I am looking for more projects to include in the gift, but I am eager to see all of your wicked fabulous projects!

The Rules

1) Post a blog about something you've made- a refurnish, recipes, a craft project, a sewing project, room decoration, anything you've done!

2) Add a link to your blog post- not to the blog itself, but to the individual posts! You can post more than one project, just add more links! The links should look something like:

Don't forget to look at the links on the list, and let people know where you found their post at!

This MckLinky will remain open and accepting links through Saturday Afternoon, April 17th!!
