I live with a geek. I admit it. He's a techno geek to the core, raised on computers and video games. And, as frugal as I am, when it comes to games, there are very few ways to remain frugal.
Thankfully, my husband, Nick, is in line with my way of thinking, and he does every little bit he can to keep the costs down for his video game splurges, as well.
He also runs a blog on games- he reviews systems & games, and he has recently done a post on frugal gaming!

Games, Games, Games
As a stay at home mom, I tend to need something to distract me. With all three kids back in school full time, I have a large portion of the day free, and boy is it nice. I am mildly addicted to playing easy, fun arcade style games online. Facebook has fed that addiction nicely, but after a while I start to get bored, and look for new games.
I found a site I love, though, that has assorted arcade games, word games, puzzle games, and even casino games. It's free to play, which I love. You do have to register, but they don't ask for personal information- just sign up info.
Video Squares
The site is somewhat new. I've been a member for about 3 weeks now, is all, but I think it's been around for a couple of months, at least.
Now here's the catch. The site is one you can use to earn free gift cards. You win points by playing the free games, and the points convert into prizes. It can take a little while to earn one, but it only takes a week to arrive. I ordered my first gift card ($25 to Walmart) on October 28th, and it arrived today, November 2nd.
I look at it this way- I waste too much time playing games already, so if I can play those same games and earn some gift cards, why not try? I don't know if the site will last, but I do know that I've earned, requested, and received a free gift card for playing, so I thought I would mention it to everyone out there who is wondering.
