Talented Tuesday

Before getting too far ahead of myself, I would like to formally invite all of you to Birthday Week. Next week, I turn 32. In honor of that, the most dreaded of days, I have been in talks with 7 fellow bloggers who are each donating a prize.

For 7 days- Saturday the 24th through Friday the 30th, I will have a sponsored post each day about a different blog, each with a prize donated from that blog. Each contest is open to anyone who wants to enter, and believe me- there are some really cool prizes, from Jewelry, to Handbags, to Baby items.

I can't wait to show off these talented women! So, mark your calendars to come back to the blog starting Saturday, or follow the blog so you can see the daily updates!

House of Hepworths took a plain Dawn Dishsoap bottle, and gave it a painted makeover. It turned out great, don't you think?

At Second Street hosted this totally adorable Minnie Mouse birthday party. Seriously, it's just adorable!

A Vision to Remember makes these fantastic rag quilt car seat blankets. Whoever first came up with this idea is a genius, but here? She takes it to a really cute place with her rag work.

Makin' It Domestic turned a vinyl tablecloth into a useful diaper changing pad- which folds up to hold a diaper and slim pack of baby wipes. It's a great gift for any parent-to-be, or new parent!

Sawdust and Paperscraps took two empty walls, and made a fantastic framed photo collage wall. She used paint to make the frames match one another, and it makes a great statement on the walls, I think.

Sassy Style linked up this Framed Monogram, which she lined with a super cute green houndstooth fabric. Maybe I'm just partial to the H, but I love this!

With all the cool items that get linked up to the party each week, it's hard to pick just a few favorites, because I am always in awe of the creativity that flows in the blog world. Seriously- you guys rock!

Talented Tuesday!

Easy Peasy Stuffed Animals from Mommas Kinda Crafty- these are super easy, and made from scraps!

A Fun Car Seat Blanket Cover by Simply Designing. These are ingenious! I've seen them on several sites now. It's a great way to keep the sun out of the face of your little lovey, and keep wind and other nasty elements off him or her!

Easy, Functional Burp Rags by Rebecca and Maggie at Homemade Mamas. I love how easy these are to make, and how nice and thick they would be, as they make use of the old traditional "burp rag"- the cloth diaper!

Ruffled, Appliqued Onsie by Brandi at Rosie's. Super adorable, especially with summer coming up. These would make cute little summer outfits for those hot days when too many clothes makes for a fussy baby!

Hello everyone! I am super excited to be here with you today!! I love going through Heather's blog and seeing all of her great ideas! She is so very talented!

Talented Tuesday Features

I slacked off yesterday. Big time. I slept a LOT during the day. Got several calls from the school about Middle Child, those are always fun. He has a fairly extreme case of ADHD, and yesterday? Well, yesterday was one of those bad, very bad, horrible, rotten days.

I wound up sleeping a lot, as I said. I digress.

I meant to feature some crafts from last week's Talented Tuesday, and never got around to doing it. Hence, the slacker part. So, here you are!

These are crafts from last week, NOT from yesterday's Talented Tuesday. Those will be featured next week. You know, if I'm not a slacker, that is.

First up! A Wreath made from BATH POOFS! Yes, Bath Poofs! I totally love this idea, and want to try it myself for a Spring wreath (which my door needs, now that the Candy Cane heart is down).

Veronica over at A Very Country Christmas made this awesome Dollar Tree wreath for just $4 using a couple of bath poofs, some ribbon, roses, and a Dollar Tree wreath form! Isn't it just adorable?

Jess at Mad In Crafts made this fun Chinese Ribbon Stick for her son, also from Dollar Tree items. This is a fun toy, especially with the Olympics!

One Cheap B*tch over at... well, One Cheap B*itch made this totally great Chalk Board Table for her kids to play with. She found the table at a thrift store, painted the top, and Viola! A fun, and functional piece of play furniture!

Stephanie at Made By Stephanie made this fun Monogram Wall Hanging, along with another one as part of a housewarming gift. They are for the kids- isn't it fun?

Check out this fantastic room re-do by Missy over at The Little Green Bean. See that wall, that brick one? Yeah, totally hand painted. She used painters tape to tape of a grid, then went to town! The chair has been Mod Podged with maps. The whole room is just great!

I am working from my ancient laptop right now, and have almost no browsing capability. The post, at the moment, will be devoid of features from last week's post. I will, however, at some point during Tuesday, hop on my own cpu and add some features.

Talented Tuesday & A Dollar Store Cloche

I have had a busy week, and as such, I was a slacker. I never commented on all of the posts last week, and I feel rotten about it! I did view them all as they were posted, and was very impressed once more with the talent people have!

This week, I am posting my craft today, instead of yesterday, so it'll be in with the Talented Tuesday bunch. I got this idea when I was at Dollar Tree, though it required 2 items from HobLob to finish them. Michaels, as an aside, did not have any type of wooden finials to use for this, so I wound up at HobLob.

Dollar Cloche

You'll Need:

1 Dollar Store marble candle plate ($1)
1 Dollar Store Candle Holder ($1 or less)
1 Wooden Finial (3 pack for $1.47, or $.49 each)
1 Wooden Ball Bead, with an opening the same size as the peg on the Finial (6 pack for $1.47, or $.245 each)
Paint (on hand)
E6000 Glue (on hand)
Sand Paper (on hand)

Cost: $2.74 (ish). This could probably be done cheaper, or more expensive, depending on the materials you use.

First, sand down the peg on the finial a bit. Insert it into the round bead, until it's as flush as it'll get. None of the finials fit completely flush to the beads I had, though they were both the same size. The gap didn't look bad, though.
Sand any rough edges on the wood.
Paint the wood- I choose Antique White to use, because it's not glaringly white, but is still a very nice neutral color, decor wise.
Once the wood is completely dry, sand down the edges a bit, for a more weathered look.
Glue the finished finial to the center of the bottom of the candle holder.
Once it's dry, you are done!

For the marble candle disc I found, I preferred it upside down to right side up. All of them had little dark colored decorative stones on the up-side, and a lip for the candle. The bottoms are perfectly smooth, and rounded off, giving it a nice polished look for the cloche.

For Super Bowl Sunday, I picked up a cute little dozen mini cupcakes, which were OH SO SWEET. Seriously, I just wanted to stare at them! All soft, squishy, with such bright heart shaped sprinkles. I had some left today, and they were the perfect size to try out the cloche, so I did!

Talented Tuesday

Welcome to Talented Tuesday! I can't wait to see all the fun posts today, so be sure to link up, and check out the links below for some new inspiration!

I saw so many talented things last week, and loved them all. Here are just a few of my favorites, though.

Turn an entertainment center into a fun, unique kids kitchen! I've seen these done before, and they never cease to amaze me!

Turn an adult sized neck tie into a cute kids tie! This is great with Easter coming up.

I love pedestal vases, and they're really popular right now. But who wants to spend $20+ to buy one, when you can make them for around $2! I have several of these as well, and love them!

How romantic is this for Valentine's Day? I love how it looks against the black door, with the vivid red ribbon.

Make a nice Valentine's Day picture from a dollar store frame!

This wonderful frame is made from a clear acrylic photo frame, mod podge, scrapbook paper, a clip, and ribbon. These would be easy to make with on-hand items!
