Looking For... Dress Up Clothing

My friend emailed me. Her local JoAnn's is going out of business, and she wants to make her daughter some dress up clothes with the great clearanced out fabrics. She looked at patterns, and didn't find much that she thought she could handle.

She's like me- pattern challenged. I told her I would look around the blog world, and see if I can find any good tutorials for making easy dress up clothing.

So- if you've seen some, or made some, post a link to the MckLinky below!

Dress up clothing, or regular clothing that can be made into dress up clothing only, please!
Please link directly to the post, and not the blog!

I know... I'm almost tempted to drive over to where she is, since it's only about a 90 minute drive.

There is a book by Barb Rogers titled Instant Period Costumes: How to make classic costumes from cast-off clothing. It is fabluous for making realistic looking costumes using clothing you can find at thrift stores and sales or just a length of fabric.
I made my Halloween costume this year from an old white sheet, a white bedskirt someone gave me, a couple of yards of cheap white satiny polyester and a white corset I bought online. I used permanent hem tape because it was faster than sewing.

That sounds like a really cool book, I'll have to look for it! Thank you :)

I am going to look for that book! I can't think of any sites right off hand, but I am sure that some will come to me later.

Just found your blog on dollar store crafts, love the socks, super cute!

There is a blog, www.everythingyourmamamade.com and she post TONS of tutorials during december, and I mean tons! She has a lot for twirly skirts and dresses and whatnots for little girls, and most look pretty easy, cause I am not a natural born seamstress :)
