Birthday Contests!

The most dreaded day in an adult woman's life is coming up for me. My birthday. Really, at this point, the only "important" birthday's left are the ones that come with black balloons and over-the-hill cards. It's not that I'm old, or even that I feel old. However, despite being young still, the greeting card companies feel that Over-The-Hill is acceptable at age 35. I'm a few years off from that (3, shh...), but none-the-less, they are the only "important" ones left.

I'm digressing greatly, aren't I?

So, here is what I want to do- a week long Birthday celebration with giveaways. I am looking for some crafty bloggers out there who want some free publicity, and who are willing to donate a prize. In total, I want to do 7 giveaways, 1 per day for the 3 days before, the day of, and the 3 days after my birthday (April 24-30th).

Each prize will have it's own completely dedicated post, complete with free advertising for your blog, and as a bonus, you'll also receive 1 month of free advertising on my blog via a 125x125 ad on the side bar.

If anyone out there is interested in sponsoring a prize, please let me know! I'll run the contest here on my blog, each contest lasting 1 week for entries. The entry will include your blog title, links, and picture features of some of the items you have on your blog or etsy shop.

Things that would make great contest giveaways:

Homemade Jewelry
Homemade Baby Items
Blog Graphics
Advertising on YOUR blog
Homemade Gifts- wall hangings, planters, wind chimes, etc- your imagination is the limit!
Gift Cards
Gift Money to your Etsy Shop
Homemade Bath Items

Please email me if you are interested!

Contest Goodies!

Over the past two weeks, I was lucky enough to win not 1, but 2 blog contests! My prizes have arrived, and I had fun with a little photo shoot today.

The first prize I won is a set of Valentine Beads from Jou Beee. They are primarily word beads, with a few round red or pink beads. I love them! I was busy rearranging the beads today to make words. ;)

How fun are these?!? Now... while I have a ton of ideas for them, it'll take me a while to actually use them, because I want to get the most use out of them as I can, so lots of word and phrase rearrangements to come.

The next prize I won is a cool, handmade headband with a flower on it. And, the flower is on a clip, and totally removable! It came from Forgotten Freckles, but I think I won the contest on a different blog- I just don't know where! It's so cute! I had asked my almost-14-year-old to pick the colors, because I thought she'd get more use out of.

Only, now, I kinda want one of my own. I'm going to have to pick some colors and order one soon!

Kirese the kitty was very curious as to what Mommy was doing, so she got to take a picture, too.

Thank you Jou Beee & Forgotten Freckles!! I love my prizes!

Mama’s Holiday Wish List Meme

Mama’s Holiday Wish List Meme

TodaysMama and Provo Craft are giving away a sleighful of gifts this holiday season and to enter I’m sharing this meme with you.

1. What 5 items are on your holiday wish list this year?

  1. New Sewing Machine
  2. Organization for my Craft Cave
  3. Scrapbooking Supplies- I haven't done scrapping in YEARS! Everything from paper & punches, to a Cricut and new albums. I want it all!
  4. A $500 gift card to Hobby Lobby- It would be gone shockingly fast.
  5. A man servant to clean my house, and wait on me, preferably in the shape of one Jason Isaacs

2. What is your favorite handmade gift you have received?

When I was 5 or 6, my step mom made me a wonderful quilt. I wore it to rags. By the time I was 14, it was held together by a few threads, some tears, and love.

3. What handmade gift have you always wanted to tackle?
I would love to make nice, twin sized quilts for the kids.

4. What was the best Christmas gift you received as a child?
I can't think of any that stand out as much as the quilt, because of how long I was attached to it, and how sentimental it is. I grew up in a divorced family- not just my parents, but also my maternal grandparents. I usually got 2-3 Barbies, 1-2 Cabbage Patch Dolls, and every other girly toy imaginable between all the places I went for Christmas every year. While I loved every toy I got, the quilt stands out more than anything.

5. What items are on your kid’s wish list this year?
Gillian desperately wants an Easy Bake oven this year.
Chris would love a giant Lego's set, or a camera.
Raegan wants a new CD player for her room.

6. What is your favorite holiday food?
Grandpa's Homemade Noodles- seriously, the noodles are made from scratch, are are OH SO good!

7. What will you be hand-crafting for the holidays?
Oh, boy.. what haven't I hand crafted for Christmas? For starters, I made the decision that all gifts for extended family or friends will be handmade this year. So, with that in mind, I've made:

8. What is your favorite holiday movie?
Hands down, A Christmas Story. I just love it!

9. Favorite holiday song?
"O Holy Night", the Kelly Clarkson, A Capella version.

10. Favorite holiday pastime?

Snuggling up and watching movies together.

Now, to do this yourself, and enter to win a "Sleighfull" of prizes, follow the link at the top of this Meme!
